With two games to go, the Champions League is reaching the end of the group stage and Atletico Madrid’s underwhelming performances so far have been emphasised by their statistics.
Diego Simeone’s team have managed to be part of the top 10 teams (ninth) in terms of distance covered, contrary to Sevilla (18th), Real Madrid (25th) and Barcelona (32nd), who haven’t been impressive in that category.
However, among the rest of the Spanish teams, Los Rojiblancos have had the second most shots in the competition (fourth overall and behind Real in second) and committed the most fouls (tenth, with 53 fouls).
Despite their efforts, however, they are the ninth worst team in the major European tournaments, as they haven’t achieved a win so far.
Barcelona, who currently top their group, have the fifth best goal difference rate of any Spanish team in the competition with +6 goals, followed by Real Madrid (eight with +4), Sevilla (16th , 0) and Atletico Madrid (18th , -1).
